DWGC is planning to do a community project every quarter. This fall we’re standing up with The Period Project.

The Period Project is a born-in, headquartered-in Greenville nonprofit that supports women and girls by increasing awareness of period poverty, advocating for legislation, and delivering menstrual hygiene products.

This is an important organization that serves communities across the Southeast.

We are asking you to donate products we need and have a signup form set up where you can commit to purchasing and delivering specific items in required amounts. At the Packing Party, we’ll be assembling “period packs”.

A Period Pack is a small package that contains a supply of products for one woman or girl including tampons, pads, and wipes. These products are distributed to women in need through nonprofits and community organizations. The Period Project also provides them to young women in local schools who cannot afford or access menstrual care as well as to women in need due to disasters such as hurricanes or fires. The Homeless Period Project has delivered over 240,000-period packs since they began the mission in 2015.

DWGC is collecting items and will be creating Period Project packs. Each sign up slot is asking for one regular store size package of the item. If you get a Sam’s or Costco size box sign up for two spots!

Items can be dropped off anytime before Oct 6 to the Democratic office, 1300 E Washington St Ste J.

We will be having a packing party Saturday October 7th 10am at the Queer Wellness Center – 30 Point Circle. Use the Sign Up Genius link (last item on the list) to register for the packing party.
