Press Release: Greenville County Democratic Party Chair, Kate Franch, Statement Regarding the House Passage of the AHCA

GREENVILLE, S.C. (May 4, 2017) – Today is a disappointing day to be an American. Both of Greenville County’s U.S. Representatives, Trey Gowdy (SC-4) and Jeff Duncan (SC-3), voted to pass the AHCA; i.e., Trumpcare.

“We’re incredibly discouraged to see both of our county’s congressional leaders pass a bill that pushes over 120,000 residents of their districts off of their healthcare plans. If this bill passes the U.S. Senate, it will eliminate protections for those within our communities with pre-existing conditions and put our communities on a path where our neighbors’, friends’, and family members’ health and futures are consistently in question,” said GCDP Chair Kate Franch. “We must come together to push Sen. Lindsey Graham and Sen. Tim Scott to stand up in support of the health of the communities they serve.”

“We must resist this administration’s callous disregard for the health of America’s communities and fight to protect coverage for those with pre-existing conditions and limited income to protect themselves,” Franch continued.
