DESCRIPTION:Trump truly IS making America great again: his radical agenda has awakened the sleeping masses and increased the political awareness of millions of progress-minded citizens! \nWhile Trump and his minions seek to destroy everything good about government and trample the rights of every at-risk community you can name — by catering to the whims of his wealthy friends in the swamp he never intended to drain — America’s progressive grassroots are coming back to life and growing every single day! \nOn June 3rd we intend to build on the momentum generated at the April 1st “Strength In Unity Conference” — but this time we’re going to roll up our sleeves and get to work! Indivisible activists from around the Upstate are putting together an agenda of great speakers\, informative workshops\, and problem-solving break-out sessions that we hope will not only get you more excited about the #Resistance than ever\, but also arm you with the weapons you need to fight the good fight! \nWhether you’re a seasoned leader of a progressive issue(s) organization\, a member of a new group just coming together\, or an unaffiliated\, newly “woke” citizen wondering how you can get involved\, please join us at this Summit. DESCRIPTION:*GCDP Community Partner Event* \nA fierce resistance is sweeping the nation in response to Donald Trump’s election to the presidency. People are waking up to the realization that politics DOES\, in fact\, matter\, that direct citizen action is required — and the time to act is NOW! \nThis growing grassroots resistance is notable for its diversity and extremely wide foundation. Pre-existing progressive groups have seen their memberships expand\, and new groups are being formed at a rapid pace. \nHere in the Upstate of South Carolina\, the resistance is also notable for its lack of cohesion and inter-group communication. Almost every day we hear about a new meeting\, march\, protest\, potluck or other event created by a progressive organization. \nEvery other day we hear a newly-minted activist ask\, “What can I do? How can I help? Where can I find out about everything that’s going on?” \nThe leadership of Indivisible groups in the Greenville / Spartanburg corridor propose a meeting of the minds — at a meeting of any and all progressive political action groups. \nWe’re calling it “Strength In Unity” because we will all be more effective when we stand together. Let’s focus our efforts and REALLY make a difference! Join us and let’s build Strength In Unity. \nWho this is for:\n– the leadership teams of any/all progressive political action organizations. (See the list below.)\n– any concerned citizen ready\, willing and able to step up and become a leader. \nWhat we hope to accomplish:\n– to create a friendly “meet and greet” event where group leaders and members can connect and share contact information;\n– to identify and recognize all progressive groups in the area (or as many as we can) for the purposes of creating a comprehensive online directory and calendar of events;\n– to improve inter-group communication and foster an atmosphere of cooperation among all groups\, so that we can support one other in our respective missions; and\,\n– to discuss how we can avoid duplication of effort and minimize scheduling conflicts moving forward. \nParticipating groups (so far): \n– #Resist Greenville\n– ACLU of South Carolina\n– Black Lives Matter Greenville\n– The Enlightenment Project\n– From the Ground Up\n– Green Party of Greenville\n– Indivisible Clemson\n– Indivisible GSP (District 4)\n– Indivisible Greenville\n– Just Democrats\n– Resist45\n– Results\n– Upstate Coalition for Equality\n– Upstate Peace Network \nPlease RSVP so we can plan accordingly. \nThe event is free to all attendees\, but we will be asking for donations to help cover the costs incurred by the hosting venue.
