The power of our precincts

By Elias ‘Eli’ Valentin
GCDP. Chair

We often talk about the power of precincts and the need for Democrats to organize in their own communities. As we continue to build the necessary infrastructure we know we need as a Democratic party, we need YOUR support in this critical effort. Through your activism, working your community, and using your network to help us build leaders who can organize their own neighborhoods.

This month the GCDP kicked off a six-month Precinct Recruiting Project, which focuses on having a precinct representative in every voting district and forming authentic connections leading to a grassroots movement. This will boost our efforts in every corner of Greenville County, supporting our local and statewide candidates, and allowing the party to grow in ways that are required for us to implement the electoral changes we want to see.

Our volunteers are reaching out to Democrats in every precinct, but you don’t have to wait for a call or a knock on the door. If you are interested, sign up here and say yes to the question: ‘Are you interested in precinct leadership.’ The Precinct Development Committee is doing important work, organizing events and other activities. As we reach out to voters in Greenville, we can hear an enthusiasm and excitement in their voices as we share what we are doing and how they can volunteer and meet other Democrats.

If you know great leaders in your own neighborhood connect them with us! Spreading the Democratic message to your neighbors, family and friends will make the difference as we educate the community about the positive things Democrats are doing and how we can make the necessary changes in Columbia to see a better South Carolina. We must organize our communities now, show up to vote in the 2021 local cycle, stay engaged as we transition to next year’s midterm elections and then mobilize them to polls in 2022. We need you to make all of that happen.

Be the change you want to see: Help the party with a much-needed donation or volunteer to help!
