Greenville County Council has called a special meeting on Friday, June 23 related to the 2023-24 fiscal year budget, which failed to garner enough support to pass at third reading this past Tuesday. The meeting will be held at 4 pm at County Square (301 University Ridge, Greenville). Find the meeting agenda HERE.
Councilor Seman is expected to motion for reconsideration of the proposed budget at the meeting. A budget must pass by the end of June to avoid a county shutdown.
The budget to potentially be reconsidered represents a compromise from what was initially proposed and minimizes the County’s first tax increase in over a quarter century to 2%. While we do not think tax increases should be adopted lightly, that increase is necessary to support essential services and quality of life for current and future residents.
