Join us Monday, September 18 at 5:30 p.m. to view a thirty-minute highlight reel of Dr. Henry Louis Gates’ documentary, Black America Since MLK: And Still I Rise,” followed by a conversation with Dr. Gates, the Alphonse Fletcher University Professor and Director of the Hutchins Center for African and African American Research at Harvard University and an Emmy award-winning filmmaker, journalist, and cultural critic.

Beryl Dakers, who has long been a leader in cultural programming and outreach at South Carolina ETV, will host the conversation.

“Imagine if Martin Luther King woke up and he asked you, ‘What’s happened since I’ve been gone?’ What would you say? That is the conceit of the series,” explains Dr. Gates. His hope is that White and Black Americans will listen as Black people talk to each other about what their lives mean and what these events signify.
