Planned Parenthood is in a fight for its life and the lives of millions of women who depend on it for health care and gynecological services. Here in SC, there is a hearing next Tuesday at the Main Library in Greenville on a public waiver to prevent Medicaid clients from being able to use Planned Parenthood as a healthcare provider.
This is one of the creative ways, legislators and state agencies have of circumventing the law. In this case, the state wants to force providerswho accept Medicaid patients to provide a full spectrum of services from diabetes, hypertension, substance abuse testing and counseling, not just reproductive health care.
If you want to have a say in preventing this attack on women couched as an bogus expansion of women’s care, show up at the Library Tuesday, May 22, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. You can also go here to post a public comment until June 3:Â https://msp.scdhhs.gov/pcc/webform/online-public-comment.
