The Greenville County League of Women Voters will present a voter education program “Why don’t more people run for political office?” to be held Thursday April 20th at 6:30 pm at the Main Library downtown Greenville. Speakers are Representative Chandra Dillard and Water Commissioner Deb Sofield (women in politics), the Progressive Network (redistricting) and the League of Women Voters (money in politics). This event is free and open to the public.
We will have tables set up for “action”: draft legislation for an independent commission to draw district lines, voter registration, draft ethics legislation on dark money, how to be a “rapid advocacy responder “ and finally a place for each participate to answer the question,” Why don’t you run for political office”? We will report out the results at the end of the program. Contact: kempeka@yahoo.com
