A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

By Billy Webster

A PICTURE… that of William Timmons, acting in a complete betrayal of the rules of decorum in the United States House of Representatives, as he shouts down President Biden during his State of the Union address is heinous enough. What makes it ridiculous and offensive in the extreme, is that Timmons is merely mimicking his soul-mate and Nutcase-in-Chief, Marjorie Taylor Green as she engages is her typical, shockingly stupid  conduct as a US Congresswoman. Timmons is acting the sycophant to Green’s idiocy. It is shameful and embarrassing to the 4th Congressional District. As some pundit commented, the US Congress is not Waffle House at 2:00am after a case of Bud Light.

Someone please tell Timmons.

Worse than the pictures of Timmons’ juvenile rudeness in the Well of the House, is his lack of words on critical and compelling issues that face our county, our state and our country.

Timmons finds the energy to protest in primetime with Green, but finds no words to condemn Trump when he called for the “termination of all rules, regulations and articles, even those found in the Constitution,” in a rambling defense of his fringe conspiracy theories regarding the 2020 election.

Timmons utters not a single word on the 75+ mass shootings that have occurred in 2023 alone. Nothing on the school shootings that continue unabated as Congress does nothing but offer handwringing and condolences.

Timmons finds no time to comment on his mentor Trump’s  praise of Putin’s strength and wisdom in his criminal invasion of the Ukraine.

The list of things that Timmons remains silent on is nothing but a testament to the intellectual bankruptcy that defines him and the far-right lunatic fringe of the Republican party for which he is an apologist and an enthusiastic poster boy.

When the Norwegian playwright, Heinrik Ibsen coined the phrase “a picture is worth a thousand words,” he was describing the power of deeds over mere words. From William Timmons, we get neither action nor words, just useless posturing for the benefit of the dangerous, extremists he seeks to impress.

The 4th Congressional District deserves so much better.
